Obituary for Donald J. Carroll

Donald Joseph Carroll of Brooklyn, NY ( b. 7.19.1944) was called home to everlasting life in Christ on August 31, 2020 at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, daughter Mary Armstrong (Robert) and son Sean (Cheryl Mahady), and two grandchildren Robert Armstrong III (Tripp) and Emma Armstrong, who remain his pride and joy. He is also survived by two sisters in law, Theresa and Evelyn Carroll, and three generations of nieces and nephews, along with countless friends he considered family. He was predeceased by his father and mother William and Margaret (McKeen) Carroll, brothers Dennis and Andrew and niece Margaret. Donald spent the last 42 years as member of the St. Patrick's and St. Ephrem's parishes, and served his community and country as a Vietnam era veteran, NYPD Police Officer, Fire Safety Director and Officer of the Catholic War Veterans. Donald's life will be celebrated at calling hours at McLaughlin's Funeral home at 9620 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, New York , 11209 on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 from 2pm-6pm and will be welcomed into eternal life with services at St. Ephrem's Church 929 Bay Ridge Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11228 on Friday, September 4th, 2020 at 10:30 am. Due to Corona Virus restrictions, attendance may be limited and masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sisters of Life, 30 Montebello Road, Suffern, NY 10901 or through their website at Homepage - Sisters of Life, or to another charity of choice in the name of Donald J.
