Obituary for Javier O. "Jay" Colpas

Beloved Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend;

Javier O. Colpas, 55, Brooklyn resident, passed away on the morning of May 2, 2021. Jay as we all know him was born on October 1, 1965 in Sangolqui, Ecuador to Daniel and Marcia Colpas. He attended Fort Hamilton HS, New York City Technical College, graduated from Pratt Institute with Construction Management degree. To know Jay was to love him. He was warm hearted man who always wanted to help someone. He loved to laugh, dance, have fun, and his music. He was a kid at heart. We all knew how handy he was. His license plate read HANDY I AM. He worked for Medgar Evers College for 9 years, and for the last 23 years he worked as a carpenter for New York City Housing, this was his second family. Jay was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his daughter Victoria, sisters: Sandra Byrnes (John) and Elizabeth Toledo (Felix), bother: Fernando Colpas (Eloisa) and nieces and nephews: Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Daniel, Brandon, Eloisa, Rylan, and Chloe. There was so much love in him for his nieces and nephews, his girlfriend Alicia, his dog Wiggles, as well as his friends. Viewing hours are Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), 5902 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220
