Obituary for Lawrence J Rizzitano

Lawrence Joseph Rizzitano, 80, born in Brooklyn, NY
to Joseph and Nicolina Rizzitano passed of a heart
attack on April 3, 2020. Lawrence, known to most as
Larry, spent most of his adult life as a resident of Long
Island, New York. His life was marked by hard work
and a variety of career choices, including working as a
security guard on an armored truck, while also
repairing ATM and money processing equipment
for Brandt Slater. Larry then spent a few years in the
carpentry industry, before deciding to retire to a life of
bowling, eating out, and attending church regularly.
Larry was brought up and lived by old-school rules. He
enjoyed taking drives in the various automobiles – all
proudly American made – that he owned throughout his
lifetime. Whether he was navigating to the golf course
in his Caddy or taking the minivan to the bowling alley,
he found joy in cruising right at the speed limit and
listening to his choice of either 50’s on 5 or Italian Opera.
Those lucky enough to ride in the passenger seat knew to “look; not touch” and learned
to love whatever music Larry decided to play through the car speakers.
Those Larry cared for most also became attuned to his unique language of love. Larry

displayed his tenderness through discipline, a gentle touch from his impossibly big-
knuckled hands, or a whispered “I love you...” followed by a quick “...shh don't tell

nobody.” But behind all his actions, family always came first.
When he was able, he never let a few days pass without calling his loved ones on his
reliable series of flip-phones. Upon picking up a call from Larry, you’d be greeted by a
loud, lively voice, grateful for the time to check-in.
Larry survived by his partner and best friend, Diane, and his loving 7 children, Richard,
Joseph, Theresa, Lawrence JR., Melissa, Seth, and Nicole, and 4 grandchildren; all of
whom he shared an irreplaceable and unique relationship.
He was 1 of five children and is also survived by his brother Paul, Sister in law Florence,
and Sister in law Marie.
Services will be held at a later date.
